Cambridge

Tiny Rose Greenhawk of Cambridge Maryland, passed away on August 19th, 2023, in the presence of her loved ones at the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus.

On April 15th, 1945, the world welcomed Tiny to her late parents Betty Rose Meekins and Sherman Meekins of Toddville Maryland. After completing her education, Tiny started her family with the late Thomas John Greenhawk and lived in numerous places throughout the country during her time as a wife of an active-duty serviceman. Through her long- life she held various jobs, but her career was best summarized by her service as a nursing assistant at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, where she eventually retired in 2006. Tiny enjoyed many pastimes, including traveling, sightseeing, exploring new foods, cinema, anything that included a deck of cards, amongst other activities that brought her joy. She devoted her life to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren and led by example to demonstrate what love, compassion and family values stood for. Tiny touched the lives of many people and will undoubtedly be remembered as the epitome of someone with a heart of gold, who was never quick to judge and treated and accepted everyone with love, decency and that special welcoming hug.

She is survived by her two daughters, Norleen Greenhawk and Teresa Greenhawk, her two grandchildren, Matthew Bramble and Ashley Greenhawk along with her great grandchildren, Ashton Jones, Laylee Carter and De’Asia Demby. She is also survived by her two brothers, Wendell Meekins Sr. and Richard Meekins along with her two aunts, Mary Belle Meekins and Helen Hughes, as well as her four nephews and numerous cousins. In addition to her parents and late husband, Tiny is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mariah Bramble, her aunts, Rebecca Fairbanks and Lula and Dorothy Simmons along with her uncle, Omar Todd, and her mothers long-term companion William Bruce Dean.

A funeral service and a celebration of her wonderful life will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with rev. Jack Diehl officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
