Verla A. Bowser, 85, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford, DE. She was born in Auburn, Indiana on July 30, 1938 and was a daughter of the late Teddy and Helen Tustison Strouse. She is predeceased by her brother, William “Bill” Strouse, and sister-in-law, Joyce Strouse.
Ms. Bowser graduated from Camden-Frontier High School in Camden, Michigan and graduated from International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the operations manager for Fisher Brothers Paper Company in Bowling Green, Ohio. Ms. Bowser was a member of the Eastern Star and of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, and she was active with Dorchester Center for the Arts.
She is survived by a daughter Cathleen Maschauer and husband Neil of Cambridge, two grandchildren Parker and Kaitlin, a step son Christopher Bowser and wife Lorri of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a stepdaughter Janice Weibel of Garrett, Indiana, one brother John Strouse, one sister-in-law, Margaret Sue Strouse, and two nephews Cory Strouse and Bradley Strouse.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 5pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Michael LaClair officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to One Mission Cambridge, P.O. Box 1495, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Dorchester Center for the Arts, 321 High Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
