William "Bill" Ernest Rumbley, Jr., 77, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, with his family by his side. He was born in Cambridge, MD on November 18, 1945 and was the son of the late William E. Rumbley Sr., and Regina Ann Juras.
In 1963 Bill graduated from Cambridge High School. On November 23, 1968 he married the former JoAnn Robbins. He began working at Rob Roy in Cambridge MD and later joined the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 2007. When Bill was in good health he enjoyed researching his family history and was a member of the Edward H. Nabb Research Center at Salisbury University. He enjoyed visiting historical sites and gardening in his yard. His favorite role however, was that of Pop-Pop. He loved spending time with his family especially with his granddaughter Miranda Elizabeth who was the joy and light of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, JoAnn Rumbley, daughter Christina Lednum and her husband Charles, granddaughter Miranda Lednum, two sisters Barbara Ann Rumbley and Rosemary Robbins and her husband Thomas Robbins Sr., nephew Thomas Robbins Jr, and his wife Lisa and their two sons William and Samuel, two nieces Marian Robbins and Michelle Robbins and an aunt Lillian Juras. He is also survived by two very special relatives that were more like grandchildren than cousins, Trevor Harrington and Madeline Harrington, as well as several other cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Regina Rumbley and his in-laws David and Crenia Robbins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Lednum III, Thomas Robbins Jr., Trevor Harrington, Wayne Harrington, Mark Fritz and Josh Wagner.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1 pm at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Tonya McClain officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P. A. in Cambridge.
