William "Billy" C. Stevens, Sr.

William “Billy” C. Stevens, Sr., 79, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Airey’s on October 9, 1946 and was a son of the late Jackson and Dorothy Corkran Stevens.

Billy graduated from Cambridge High School Class of 1965. He worked for John Tieder for many years and later worked with JB Tieder. On May 5, 1967 he married the former Linda Brittingham who passed away on March 3, 2010. Billy was a life member Madison Fire Company where he served as president, past president of the Dorchester County Fireman's Association where he served in many capacities on the local and state level. He was also a member of Church Creek Fire Company.

He is survived by three sons Ralph Stevens of Cambridge, Larry Stevens of Cambridge and David Stevens of Delmar, DE, a daughter Terry Shearman and husband Todd of Cambridge, six grandchildren Erica, Ashley, Charles, Katlin, Ellen J. and Amy, five great grandchildren, a sister Ethel Wingate of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Billy is preceded in death by a son William C. “Chuckie” Stevens, Jr. and a brother Russell Stevens.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11am at Dorchester Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD to help defray funeral cost.
