Barbara Jean (Tolley) Hochreiner

March 4, 1944 — January 26, 2021

East New Market

Barbara Jean (Tolley) Hochreiner, 76, of East New Market passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at UMSMC at Easton. She was born on March 4, 1944 on Hoopers Island and was the daughter of the late Betty Jane (Travers) and Joe Hiser and Donald Tolley.

She attended schools on Hoopers Island, where she also worked in the crab factories in her young and teenage years. She was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 91 and Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge. She was a hard worker and was employed many years with Airpax, Center Market and Pep-Up. Barbara had a very deep love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her light and she was extremely proud of them all, and bragged about them often, to whomever would listen. Barbara expressed her love mostly through food. She loved to cook and care for people. She has helped with the caregiving for many family members and friends during her lifetime. Whenever someone called and asked “Barbara can you _____”, she was always willing to do whatever. Barbara was a strong individual and a fighter and overcame many challenges in her lifetime, both personally and medically. Some of her favorite past times were doing Search a Word books, collecting angel figurines, and canning her own fruit and vegetables, that she liked to give to family and friends, talking on the phone and eating seafood, especially crabs that she loved most of all. She was a Redskins Fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. She very much loved the Christmas season and decorating and the celebrations with family. If you visited her during the holidays, you would see her yard fully a glow with Christmas decorations, which continued to the inside with her collection of snowmen.

She is survived by two daughters Ruthie Robbins and husband Greg, and Betty Gale Johnson and a son Nelson Goslin Jr. and wife Lydia, grandchildren Anthony Hughes and wife Megan, Hunter Hughes and companion Jenna Robbins, Wm. Nelson Goslin and companion Victoria Doyle, and Hannah Goslin, great grandchildren Addison, Cohen, Paisleigh, Mazie Ruth and Peyton Lynn Hughes, stepchildren Russell Hibble and wife Kellie, and Joseph Hibble and wife Cassie, step grandchildren Lauren and Rebecca Robbins, Rebecca Jester and Andrea Hibble, step great grandchildren Gabby Lowery, Sawyer Jester and Oliver Ewell, step siblings Danny Hiser and Cheri Briggs, her aunt Peggy Cannon, whom she thought of as a second mother and cousin Dianna Travers, who she thought of as a sister, several other aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends.

Along with her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by the love of her life, her companion of 24 years Clifford “Rusty” Hibble, who she adored.
