Betty L. (Brannock) Jackson

East New Market

Betty L. Jackson, 86, of East New Market passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Chester River Manor in Chestertown. Before going to the nursing home, she resided in East New Market with her son Billy and daughter in law Michelle. She was born in Cambridge on April 9, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Oden and Mildred Bromwell Brannock.

Mrs. Jackson graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1953. On July 31, 1953, she married Andrew W. Jackson, who passed away on July 29, 1985. She worked at the High Spot, Dayton's and Shoal's restaurants. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles, playing bingo, bowling and watching sports. She also enjoyed going to Pleasant Day. For 23 years, she lived in Hurlock with Lynn Shenton, who was her long term caregiver.

She is survived by two daughters Sharon Ireland and husband Robert of Denton and Diane Snell of North Carolina, two sons Robert W. Jackson of East New Market and William O. “Billy” Jackson and wife Michelle of East New Market, five grandchildren Ashley Snell, Wesley Snell and wife Shelley, Brett Ireland and wife Ashley, Olivia Foskey and husband Chuck, and Andrew Jackson, six great grandchildren and a niece Sandi Patterson. Besides her parents, Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by a sister Patsy Willey and a brother John Brannock.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Jackson, Chuck Foskey, Brian Kemp, Bryceson Foskey, Ricky Dukes and David Smith.

A walk through visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 12 to 1 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge followed by a graveside service at 2 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Social distancing and face mask are required.
