C.R. Newman

C.R. Newman, 70, of East New Market passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on October 9, 1950 and was a son of the late Theron E. and Jeanette Robinson Newman.

C.R. graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1968. On March 5, 1971, he married the former Julia Elzey. He worked for Dorchester County as the maintenance supervisor until he retired in 2013. C.R. also worked part time at Haddaway's Shell until his health started to decline. He enjoyed fishing, fishing trips, hunting, and riding the country side. C.R. was a member of the Cambridge Lodge #66, A.F. & A.M. and the Immanuel United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Julia Newman of East New Market, three daughters Christy Ashton of Church Creek, Stacey Seymour of Cambridge and Sherry Todd and husband Adam of East New Market, four grandchildren Jarrett Ashton, Lorna Seymour, Corey Ashton, and Blake Todd, a close family member Steven Knopp, two brothers Thomas Newman of Easton and William Newman and wife Karen of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jarrett Ashton, Corey Ashton, Steven Knopp, Scott Elzey, Scott Dodson, John Dodson and Josh Dodson. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Todd and Ryan Elzey.

A walk through visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, followed by a graveside and Masonic Service at 1:15 pm at Richardson Family Cemetery in Church Creek. Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Blood Bank of Delmarva, 1309 Mt. Herman Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
