Leila H. (Holliday) Robbins

Leila H. Robbins, 89, of Salisbury, MD passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Wingate on November 14, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Evans Thomas Holliday and Evelyn Windsor Holliday.

She graduated from schools in Dorchester County and received her business degree in Baltimore. In 1950, she became the first Miss Dorchester. In 1952, she married Jack M. Robbins, who passed the away on September 2, 1996. For many years, she and mother-in-law Evelyn Robbins ran the Cinderella Shop, a family business. But most of all, she was a pillar to her family and a loving mother to her children. She enjoyed many crafts and travel and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by son Eric Robbins of Newark, DE, son-in-law Ray Saunders, three grandchildren Jacob, Maggie and Michael Saunders, brother Lamont “Monty” Holliday and wife Judy of Cambridge, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Michelle Saunders.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2 pm at Dorchester Memorial Park with the Rev. Glenn Catley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 Mt. Herman Road, Suite D, Salisbury, MD 21804 or to Alzheimers Association, 909 Progress Circle Ste. 400, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
