Lynn R. Adams

August 8, 1938 — February 12, 2021

Salisbury

Lynn Rue Adams, age 82, of Salisbury, MD passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL following a courageous battle against COVID-19.

Lynn was born in Cambridge, MD on August 8, 1938 to Samuel Calvin Adams and Annabelle Oneita Adams. He graduated from Cambridge High School as a member of the CHS Class of 1956 and married the former Faye Rogers of Secretary, MD on October 21, 1962. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years together.

Lynn was a long-time employee of Delmarva Power & Light and also served in the Maryland National Guard. He attended Rockawalkin United Methodist Church, belonged to Elks Lodge #1272 and served as Worshipful Master for Masonic Lodge #66. Lynn was enthusiastic about sports and coached girls’ youth softball and men’s fast pitch softball. He was a loyal fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapin Basketball Team, and he proudly cheered on the Salisbury University Seagulls Lacrosse Team from the top row of Seagull Stadium.

Following his retirement from DP&L, Lynn enjoyed travelling and dancing across many destinations with Faye. They had the opportunity to cruise often, and particularly enjoyed visiting ports across Europe, the Greek Islands and the Caribbean. They also relished visiting their daughter Stephanie in the many places work took her, from Naples to Dallas and Las Vegas, and relaxing in the Sunshine State with their daughter Cathy and son-in-law Mark at their homes in Jacksonville and Hollywood. Lynn also appreciated visiting Inverness, FL and having the opportunity to dance with his precious granddaughter Lindsay at her wedding.

An avid waterman, Lynn loved summering at his seaside Fenwick Island, DE home in Summertime Park where he was known as The Mayor, and where he vied each year to catch the largest crab, reel in the biggest fish and dig out the best bucket of clams. He often could be found sitting at the beach, surrounded by those who enjoyed listening to his many stories and words of wisdom. He will be remembered as a fun-loving, caring friend to all, and as “beach dad” to many.

Lynn is survived by his beloved wife Faye Rogers Adams of Salisbury, MD, daughters Stephanie Lynn Adams of Las Vegas, NV and Cathy Ann Adams Engle (husband Mark) of Hollywood, FL, granddaughter Lindsay Rae Platz (husband Robert) and great granddaughter Madison Rae Platz, all of Beverly Hills, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson Austin Matthew Engle, granddaughter Allison Annabelle Engle and his cherished pup Gunnar.

The family will receive visitors at Thomas Funeral Home, located at 700 Locust Street in Cambridge, MD on Saturday, March 13th from 11 to 12 pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be private, but friends also are invited to join the family and Lynn’s Masonic Brothers for his final internment at Dorchester Memorial Park, located at 5391 Aireys Road in Cambridge at approximately 1 pm that afternoon. The family requests that all attendees please wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.

Pall bearers will be Warren Newcomb of Cambridge, MD, Matthew Frigm, George Frigm and Lou Marconi all of Wilmington, DE, Augie Stern of Belcamp, MD and Tim Jones of Salisbury, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s memory to the Rockawalkin United Methodist Church, 6777 Rockawalkin Road, Hebron, MD 21830.
