Richard A. "Dick" Thomas

Chief Warrant Officer 4 (SW) Richard A. Thomas USN (Ret.) (84) passed away on February 3, 2021 at Easton Memorial Hospital, Easton, MD. Dick was born in Cambridge on December 13, 1936 to Guy and Mildred Thomas.

He graduated from Cambridge High School, class of 1955 and joined the Navy in June of that year. His Naval Career lasted 35 years: aboard a radar picket ship (USS Picket YAGR-7), a destroyer (USS Perkins DDR-877), an aircraft carrier (USS Ranger CVA-61), an amphibious helicopter carrier (USS Inchon LPH-12) a battleship (USS New Jersey BB-62) and the 7th Fleet Flagship (USS Blue Ridge LCC-19) On September 13, 1958, Dick and M. Irene Wilcox, his high school sweet heart, were wed. They were married for 52 years when she passed on Sept 10, 2011. Also preceding him in death was Meg Kinnamon, the other love of his life, on June 11, 2018.

He is survived by: son, Rick Thomas and his wife Melissa of Albuquerque NM; son, Mike Thomas and his wife Susan of Fishers IN; daughter, Teri Langrall and her husband Doug of Cambridge MD; sister, Doris Bradford of Cambridge MD; sister, Pat Armentrout of Chandler AZ; sister, Cathi Brown of Cambridge MD; grandchildren: Hope Salamunovich and her husband James of St. Augustine FL; Scott Thomas and his wife Andrea of Clearwater FL; Jade Miller and her husband Bryan of Cambridge MD; Hayden Langrall of Cambridge MD; Andrew Thomas of Fishers IN, Kylie Langrall of Cambridge MD; and great grandchildren: Carter, Kayln and Paisley Miller of Cambridge MD.

A walk-through viewing will be held at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. on Saturday, February 13th at 10am to 11am in Cambridge. Afterwards, a private ceremony will be held, with Military Honors for the family. Burial at sea services for Dick and the cremated remains of his wife, Irene, will be held at the convenience of the Navy. Monetary contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to American Legion Post 91, 601 Radiance Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.
