Robert "Bobby" M. Brooks

July 18, 1942 — September 16, 2021

Church Creek

Robert Max Brooks, of Church Creek Maryland, left his family to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 16, 2021.  Bobby, as he was known his whole life, was the devoted husband of Deanna McGrath Brooks and together they raised two daughters, Bonnie Brooks and Barbi Stack (Steve).  He leaves behind his sister Doris Brooks Brashier, four grandchildren, Charles Howard (Amy,) Bobbi Forkum (Damian), Stephen Stack (Courtney) and Trevor Stack (Allie), as well as 9 great grandchildren, Paige, Jacob, Brooke & Betty Forkum, Hayden Hudson and Riley Howard, Emmalyn Stack, Kyleigh Stack and Mylee Stack (Due November 2021).

Mr. Brooks was born in Dorchester General Hospital on July 18th 1942 to the late Arthur and Anna Mae Brooks.  He was raised with his Grandparents, the late Jeff and Elsie Brooks, on Egypt Road until he was 6 years old when the family moved to Church Creek. He attended area schools including the two-room school house in Church Creek.  After graduation from Cambridge High School in 1960 he continued working on the family farm and married Deanna McGrath on July 10, 1964.

Hailing from German roots and coming from three generations of farmers, Bobby worked with his family to establish Buttons Creek Farms.  He also worked for Spicer’s Lumber Mill, hauling chips and Boat Lumber for 21 years.  Eventually the farm evolved into Buttons Creek Stone and he and his family built and maintained driveways and lifelong relationships in Dorchester County.

Bobby was a member of the Church Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and the White Haven United Methodist Church.  He also loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family, enjoy a good meal and spend time outside tinkering in the yard and shucking oysters on his tailgate to be given away to friends.  One of his fondest past times was taking family friends and their children to the ponds behind the house to introduce them to snake head fishing.  Anyone who met him had a friend for life.

A celebration of life for Mr. Brooks will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1 pm at White Haven United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bob Kirkley, Pastor Jack Diehl and Pastor Delmer Willey officiating. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral and interment will take place at Dorchester Memorial Park directly following the Ceremony.
