Terry L. Brannock

July 13, 1956 — October 26, 2022

Cambridge

Terry L. Brannock, 66, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at UMSMC at Easton. He was born in Cambridge on July 13, 1956 and was a son of Clara Mace Layton Brannock and the late Harold Louis Brannock.

Terry graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1974. He also attended Salisbury State College. In the late seventies he worked on the Maryland State Yacht, “The Maryland Lady and Captained on another State yacht, “The Prowler”. On October 10, 1981, Terry married the former Frances Hossbach. Terry’s love for designing and creating jewelry developed at that same time. He opened his first store, T.L. Brannock Silversmith on High St in 1978. The business expanded and he moved to another location on Poplar St, until he purchased and opened Thorn Valley Jewelers at 510 Poplar St. Terry was a master goldsmith, and did all his engraving by hand. He was one of only two craftsmen in Maryland who did hand engraving in stone. In 2001, due to health issues Terry moved his goldsmithing business to a building on their farm, Cellar House Designs, where he did custom pieces of jewelry, appraisals and designed technical pieces for the U.S. Military.  Later, he owned and operated London Cabs LLC, an exclusive taxi/chauffeuring service for weddings and special occasions using an authentic antique London Austin black cab. Although the business flourished, as his health declined, he had to retire.

Terry enjoyed taking train excursions with his family, steam engines, tractors, creating miniatures, British Comedy and Clint Eastwood movies. “It’s a hell of a thing, killing a man. You take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.”

One of his greatest joys was to quietly help someone in need, especially children. Honesty and generosity were two of his best qualities, combined with a quick wit and sense of humor that most often resulted in he himself being the brunt of the joke. For a number of years Terry, with his full beard and a twinkle in his eye, was Santa for the local police department and the special needs students throughout the county. Terry was a member Cambridge Lodge #66, A.F. & A.M., the Cambridge Lions Club, and a lifelong member of Antioch United Methodist Church. He served as the church’s Administrative Council Chairman for 20+ years, and coordinated the church’s Annual Peach Festival for all of its 35 years.

He is survived by his wife Frances Brannock, two sons Henry “Hank” L. Brannock and Thomas L. Brannock, and his mother Clara Mace Brannock.

Per Terry’s wishes, services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
